RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) is a method of automatic object identification, in which data stored in so-called transponders, or RFID tags, is read or written using radio signals.
Radio frequency identification is based on the transmission and recording of data:
Information is written to the chip using the radio wave method.
Then the stored information is read using a special device.
A tag includes several components:
1. A chip that stores information about the user; the microcircuit is also responsible for communication with the reading device;
2. An antenna that enables data exchange between the reading device and the tag;
3. A shell in which the antenna and chip are enclosed;
4. An external housing adapted for attaching the tag to various objects.
NFC (Near Field Communication) is a short-range wireless data transmission technology that enables data exchange between devices located at a distance of up to 10 centimeters. NFC operates at a frequency of 13.56 MHz. NFC always includes an initiator (smartphone, tablet with NFC module) and a target (NFC tag); the initiator actively generates a radio frequency field that can affect the passive target (writes or reads data).
In fact, NFC is one of the subtypes of RFID operating at high frequencies.
